A New Public Montessori Elementary School Opening Fall 2024
Great news for families living in the beautiful townhomes in Crowley TX! Crowley ISD is set to open a new Montessori elementary school in the Karis community by Fall 2024. The Crowley Montessori Academy, previously housed in a wing of Mary Harris Elementary, will move to its new home at Elementary No. 16.
This new school will be the only Montessori institution within Crowley ISD and one of fewer than 50 in Texas. The Montessori method emphasizes individualized and small-group learning, with teachers acting as guides rather than traditional instructors. This innovative approach is evident in the school’s design, featuring open spaces, tables instead of individual desks, and a focus on collaborative learning.
The new campus will include numerous features designed to enhance the learning experience, such as flexible study spaces, natural lighting in classrooms, and a fully accessible playground. Additional highlights include an indoor amphitheater for group activities, an outdoor labyrinth to foster creativity, and security fencing around all outdoor play areas. All teachers will be Montessori-certified, ensuring a high-quality educational experience. When it opens, the school will serve up to 484 children from age three through fifth grade, with plans to expand to accommodate up to 744 students. Enrollment is open to all students within Crowley ISD, though parents must apply for their children’s admission.
